Vintage Valentine’s Day Cards

Filed under: post cards — fehlhaber @ 12:03 pm

Not many roses in these old Valentines. But lots of violets, forget-me-nots, daisies, and plenty of arrows.  Enjoy!

Buster Brown Valentine

From Grandma Marjorie’s collection. Cards are signed by Tom J. Butler (Ashland, IL); Lena Wankel (Virginia, IL); Frances Nester (Virginia, IL).

  1. I see that the subjunctive was a difficult concept even back then. And I don’t know about the one with the flaming heart and one Cupid mounted on the other looking as though he’s yanking her hair and then going to stab her in the back with the arrow. I love the artwork, though. Wonder what people will think of our modern day greeting cards in 100 years.
