Gustav James Fehlhaber, 1930-2008

Sophie, Leo and I just got back from a week in California with my dad. He died yesterday while we were still there. Leo has lots of great memories of him from his 11 trips to California. Instead of something new, here are some old posts about my dad. We will all miss him a lot.

His obituary will appear in the paper on Sunday — here’s what it will say —

  1. there are so many great pictures of Leo and your dad. It’s hard to pick a favorite. They so often had the exact same expression. Love you.

  2. You have so many great memories of the times you spent with your dad and Leo’s Papa. These pictures are great. Our thoughts are with you.

  3. You, your dad, and your family are all part of my memories of growing up in Burlingame. I’m so glad Leo will have such great memories of his granddad. Take care and know the Eversons are thinking of you.

  4. A few people have sent me these notes —

I really enjoyed eating cherry pie with you, Leo and your dad (in November). He was
really happy about the pie and I thought that was so sweet. He was a
really, kind person and I always felt so welcome every time I visited
with you in Burlingame. I liked your dad a lot. I just wanted to
    tell you that.

We’re very sorry to hear the news. I really enjoyed talking to and being around your dad. He always treated me like an adult when I was a kid and with humor and respect when I wasn’t a kid.

    Lots of love to everyone,

  5. So sorry to hear your news but it’s lovely to see all those times he had with all of you . we are thinking of you .Brian & Mary
