Great Kids’ Museum near Boston

Filed under: Kids in museums, Peabody Essex Museum — fehlhaber @ 8:03 pm

We’ve been there many times before, but today we had another great time at the Peabody Essex Museum.  Though not officially a “children’s museum”, they try really hard to make kids welcome.  And now they’ve added a fun scavenger hunt in the form of this brochure, with two tear-off cards that kids can easily hold on to.

It’s their way (it seems) of getting kids to explore more than just the first floor of the museum, where the child-oriented “Idea Studio” is located.  The four year olds had fun doing the search, but the six year old with us, Lily, was really the one who could find the objects.

The shows in the kids’ room last for a year — the origami show is now over and a new one, Polar Attractions, is up. To see a cool slide show of some art (which you really won’t get to look at if you’re chasing small children), click here.

Here are more photos of what they had fun doing -

Jenny & Bill’s Wedding

Filed under: Uncategorized — fehlhaber @ 9:21 pm

Jenny Godley and Bill Keating tied the knot at the beautiful Mt. Engadine Lodge near Canmore, Alberta.  It was a wonderful occasion and we felt honored to be a part of it.  Here are some photos from the day.

More Photos from Canada — includes Grizzly on Hwy 40, Kananaskis Trail

We saw the grizzly bear on Sunday, August 3 on Highway 40, the Kananaskis Trail - about 6pm.  It was somewhere north of the Boundary Ranch.

Mt. Engadine Lodge - Meadow View Platform

Not one of the quieter moments at the lodge!  Their excuse — letting off steam before the wedding.

Only one hour later they were all dressed up and ready to be the ring bearers and sand bearers.

Update from Alberta, Canada

Filed under: Uncategorized — fehlhaber @ 10:30 pm

Here we are in the Canadian Rockies!  No photos (of my own) available at the moment, but just wanted to say that yesterday we saw a GRIZZLY BEAR!!!  We were in our car and stayed in our car (unlike some of the other tourists — I have photos!), but it was very, very impressive.

There will be lots of photos of Jenny & Bill’s beautiful wedding, all the boys (Finn, David, Leo and Liam) and all the wildlife, but I’ll have to post them once we get home.

Leo finally got the idea of these things — what on earth are they called?

Melissa swears that the actors had to be smoking something.  Leo didn’t mind and got on stage to help out.
