Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening – RFK desk and recording

Filed under: Uncategorized — fehlhaber @ 9:12 am

At the JFK Library on Saturday, we came across Robert F. Kennedy’s desk from the White House, preserved as if he just stepped away. On his desk is this handwritten line from a Robert Frost poem

“The woods are lovely dark and deep,

But I have promises to keep.”

I found it moving, especially seeing it sitting under the photo of him with his family.

Click to listen to a recording by Frost of “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” — Leo and I like to listen to this in the car. Now you’ll always hear Frost’s voice when you read this poem.
